Sridaiva Yoga Weekend Intensive

With Desi Springer and John Friend – Root the Dark, Branch the Light

This weekend intensive with Desi and John is designed to present a full overview of the Sridaiva yoga method for all levels, beginners to yoga teachers, teens to elders.

John and Desi have been co-teaching weekend yoga events nationwide over the last few months, but this is their first time to present a 2-day immersion on the alignment principles of Sridaiva in Denver and at their home studio, Vital Yoga.

This 4-session weekend intensive is an invaluable introduction into Sridaiva yoga for beginning students as well as yoga teachers.

Saturday

Class 1 – The Roots of The Roots, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

This a detailed deconstruction and practice of the most fundamental poses within the Roots sequence. Learn all the basic positions for the hands, feet, arms, and legs in the base forms within The Roots, which apply universally in all asanaas.

Class 2 – Therapeutics, 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm 

Learn how to address common musculo-skeletal injuries and limitations in the shoulders, hips, and lower back using Sridaiva alignment principles.

By learning the proper alignment of the corners of the torso – the shoulders and hips – a wide variety of ailments in the neck, jaw, elbows, wrists, knees, and feet are also therapeutically addressed.

Sunday

Class 3 – Optimal Biotensegrity, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

You will learn the Sridaiva principles of alignment to create a posture of optimal biotensegrity in any pose.

  • Muscular Integration – conscious control from insertion to origin of the main muscles in basic poses, particularly gluteus maximus.
  • Root Spiral – creates optimal alignment for the lower half of the body from the feet up to T-12 located at the top of the lower back.
  • Wing Spiral – creates optimal alignment for the upper half of the body from the hands down to T-12 at the bottom of the ribcage.
  • Rooting & Rising – the essential actions within every pose which create central core lengthening and toning of the neuro-glandular system.

Class 4 – Ultimate Hip-Openers for Sitting2:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Learn the proper alignment for sitting¾in chairs and on the floor for meditation.

Use Sridaiva alignment principles to create a paradigm-shifting concept of neutral pelvis and neutral spinal curvature in any sitting position. This session will include pranayama and 3 types of meditation.

It is recommended to take this as a 2-day intensive with all 4 sessions for $200.
However, any 2 classes can be taken for $125.
